Riverwatch: City of Pierre Continues to Develop Protective Projects

Pierre, S.D. – The city of Pierre and their contractors are working on two additional projects along the river.

Concrete Jersey barriers are being placed along the shoreline where appropriate in order to break wave action.

The second project is an earthen levee that is being built between the two existing levees the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built on Sully Avenue.  This new levee will be constructed from the City Park Shop to Buchanan Street and will tie into the two existing levees. The Corp is providing technical assistance for the construction of this levee.

Crews will be working on both of these projects until completed.

Updated information will be provided through the media.
