Washington, DC—U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) today released this statement on the killing of Osama bin Laden:

Thanks to our military and intelligence community we have achieved a significant victory in the killing of Osama bin Laden.  While this victory has been 10 years in the making the war on terror is not over. We should take this moment to remember the contributions of over 5,000 South Dakotans who have fought terror in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“I commend our intelligence community and military personnel for pursuing this mass murderer and delivering justice.”

Washington, DC—U.S. Representative Kristi Noem (R-SD) made the following statement regarding the death of Osama Bin Laden.

“The world is safer today thanks to the brave and determined efforts of our military men and women.  The chief architect of 9/11 has been brought to justice for his plot that killed nearly 3,000 innocent Americans.  This should send a clear message to any others who wish to do harm to the American people or stifle the freedoms we enjoy.”

Gov. Dennis Daugaard:

“After nearly ten years, justice has been done.  We owe our thanks to the brave men and women who serve our nation overseas, including those who have served from here in South Dakota.”
